What Is Concierge Security? A Guide for Ontario Condo & Building Managers

What concierge security guards do

A concierge security guard is the professional stationed at your building's front desk — part host, part protector. They verify visitors and contractors, accept and log deliveries, monitor lobby CCTV and building alarms, enforce condominium rules, respond to resident concerns and emergencies, and conduct regular patrols of parking garages, stairwells, amenities and mechanical rooms.

Unlike a pure receptionist, a concierge guard is a licensed Ontario security guard. Unlike a purely tactical guard, a concierge is trained in hospitality first — greeting residents by name while quietly controlling who enters the building.

Concierge security vs. a standard security guard

A standard uniformed guard focuses on deterrence and response at a fixed post or on patrol. A concierge security guard does all of that while also acting as the face of the building: managing fob systems, coordinating with property management, documenting incidents for condo boards and de-escalating disputes between residents before they become police matters.

For condominium corporations, the difference shows up in resident satisfaction surveys and in fewer unauthorized entries, package thefts and after-hours disturbances.
