Mobile Patrol vs. Static Security Guards: Which Is Right for Your Ontario Property?
A full-time guard post isn't always the answer — and neither is a patrol car. Here's how to choose between static guarding and mobile patrol.
What each service actually is
A static (on-site) security guard is posted at your property for a full shift — controlling access, monitoring cameras and responding to anything that happens in real time. A mobile patrol is a licensed guard in a marked vehicle who visits your property on scheduled and randomized checks throughout the night: doors, windows, gates, fencing, lighting and signs of forced entry.
When static guarding wins
Choose a static guard when risk is continuous: active construction sites with valuable materials, busy retail locations, hospitals, residential towers, industrial gatehouses, and any site where an incident in progress needs an immediate on-site response. One dedicated guard costs more per night but delivers constant presence.
When mobile patrol wins
Choose mobile patrol when risk is periodic or spread out: vacant buildings, closed offices and retail plazas after hours, industrial yards, schools, churches and multi-property portfolios. Patrols deliver professional checks and rapid alarm response at a fraction of full-time guarding cost.
Many Ontario properties use both: patrols overnight, static guards during high-risk periods. 1st Nations Security builds hybrid programs across Ontario — call +1 807-770-0243 to compare options for your property.
